Gold Stilettos

Fabulous and dangerous. Experimenting with my nails has become a thing of mine recently. Can you tell? As a model you're advised to keep your hands clean and manicured. But you're generally discouraged from anything other than a classic french, classic red, or classic nude. The key word is obviously classic. I get it, but that's no fun. For years I would look down at my hands and think booooooo-ring! So I decided to be adventurous not only with color but with shape. I picked something that reminded me of a sexy James Bond movie with extra sharp edges.

I was in a b*tchy mood when I walked into Pampered Hands salon. I felt like I wanted to cut somebody. Don't judge. We all have our moments. Anyway I went right in and said "I want acrylics. Give me stiletto nails." Keep in mind, I've never done this before... the pointy acrylic thing. I've had press-on tips for shoots but nothing longterm. At first, I was leaning toward a sea foam green. Halfway through the long process, I changed my mind. I wanted my nails to look lethal like a pretty Edward Scissorhands. What if my nails looked like butter, or better yet, like I can slice butter. I admit that I get inspired by the most random things.

A few months ago when I was shooting the new Cadillac Escalade commercial, the directors thought it would be a good idea to paint my fingertips gold. The ancient Egyptian pharaohs did it and they also wore gold finger stalls. Since I was playing an Egyptian queen, it was only fitting for me to do it too. The idea of gold on my fingers stuck. Why not look like royalty everyday? So I found a gold that was soft enough for daily wear and shiny enough to still make my point.

These stiletto nails are built to last. Once a week reapply a top coat so you can keep your color fresh. The acrylic nails should hold on for a while as along as you get them filled in every couple weeks. Keep your hands clean and dry them throughly so that no bacteria or fungus builds up underneath your nail bed. Moisturizing your hands and oiling your nails will keep them healthy in between manicures. Use non-acetone polish remover if you want to switch out your polish. Of course you can do all of this at home, but if you're not nail savvy, go to a salon you trust.

I'm definitely hooked on these nails. Goldfinger fabulous! Click above for some heavy metals options you can try for yourself.
