The Peter Som’s collection for Kohl’s DesigNation launches today, April 10th online and in stores across the country. Last week, I had the opportunity to meet Peter Som as well as view and style the entire collection at the Kohl’s Jersey City, New Jersey store.

In addition to photo opps and the opportunity to view, touch and feel all of the collection, we were also challenged to style our favorite picks from the collection using items from Kohl’s. Just imagine what happens when you give 18 lifestyle and fashion bloggers full access to an entire DesigNation collection, full access to all Kohl’s accessories, apparel, and a famous designer.

Yes, there were a lot of #selfies, fun and creativity! I created these two outfits for the challenge. For the first outfit, I paired the Peter Som for Kohl’s DesigNation antique white moto jacket {$78} with the eyelet ruffle dress {$88}. I added a gold rhinestone statement necklace and a bright coral statement bag, (both on sale at Kohl’s) for this outfit. For the second outfit, I paired a black leatherette moto jacket (available at Kohl’s) with this tapered Peter Som for Kohl’s DesigNation jumpsuit {$74}, textured/printed bag and blue statement necklace (both available at Kohl’s).

The St. Barth’s inspired collection has a definite beachy feel but I was surprised at how versatile they actually were. Some of the pieces are transitional and can take you from 9-5, 5-9, from the office to the beach and vice-versa. They are also easy to layer — so although this is a Spring collection, these items can definitely be worn into winter. The designs are further enhanced with bold, exciting prints and fabrics which include: eyelet, french terry, silk charmeuse and what I call travelers knit.

I added the black jumpsuit, antique white eyelet dress and the fit and flare dress to my own collection. All of the items are true to size, fit really great, feminine, stylish and comfortable. Sizes for this collection run from 0-16 and prices range from $38 to $88.

I Wore It! The Peter Som for Kohl’s DesigNation Fit Flare Dress {$68} is a great transitional dress that can be styled for work, evening and weekend.

For me, what was even greater than “playing” with the collection before it hit stores was the fact that Peter Som helped me to dress the mannequins for both of my outfits. Yes, after his introduction, he stayed and interacted with us during the entire event. My experience with Mr. Som makes him officially the nicest, most down to earth celebrity that I have ever met.
