Pregnant in PDX // Pampering at Urbaca

Happy Friday friends! Earlier this fall, I had hoped to start a series of posts called Pregnant in PDX here on the blog as I wanted to highlight some of the awesome resources for mamas-to-be here in Portland. But that didn't quite happen because next thing I knew it was November and now I'm only a few weeks out from my due date! However, I did have the chance for some "me" time recent at a fabulous new-to-me salon here in Portland and I wanted to share it with all of you!

Urbaca Salon is located in the Pearl District, right on the same block as Pearl Bakery. It's very easy to find and there is free parking right across from the salon, but I'll admit, I had never noticed it before I went for my appointment. It's located in a building with some other offices, but the space is super bright and airy and it has a very modern feel with a Portland vibe.

Everyone who I encountered at the salon was super nice, and it's definitely a relaxing atmosphere. I had my hair cut and my makeup done by Caitlyn; she was so sweet and really easy to talk to! She did a fantastic job with my cut and although I didn't make any drastic changes, it felt so good to get my hair freshened up! She also did a great job with my makeup and it was just a fun experience!

Had to take a quick selfie before I left the salon :)

I tried having Cam take my picture of my hair/makeup when I got home, but the lighting was a little funky since it gets dark so early now! (Daylight savings time is the worst...)

And then I actually had the opportunity to come back to Urbaca for a second time recently to try out their facial services as well - I don't get facials as much as I'd like so it was definitely a treat!

Sherry, the salon director at Urbaca, did my facial and she did an amazing job! She made sure I was comfortable the whole time and was super easy to talk to. It was definitely a more lengthy facial then some I've had in the past; it was a very Zen-like experience and I felt extremely relaxed after!

Sherry actually makes her own skincare products which she uses for facials and they sell in the salon. One of the things I really liked about my facial with her was that she was very non-judgemental; some estheticians I've gone to in the past have asked a million questions about what I'm doing to my skin currently and then tried to guilt me into buying a bunch of new products. Sherry was not like that at all, and just wanted to make sure I had a really relaxing experience!

Urbaca was kind enough to give me some of Sherry's skin care products to take home, and I love that they're all really natural and don't have any weird chemicals in them. I hadn't really found a salon in Portland yet, but I absolutely loved my experience at Urbaca and will definitely be going back! If you're local and looking for a great salon, be sure to check them out!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to enter my Minted giveaway - I'll be announcing a winner on Monday so there is still plenty of time!

Disclaimer: My visits to Urbaca were complimentary, however, the thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own!
