Jules Julien
Amsterdam based illustrator and print maker, Jules Julien produces graphic portraits in a range of digital and print based methods. Using beautifully soft fading colours and incorporating grainy textures, Julien’s work is inviting yet mysterious. The abstracted characters featured in Jules Julien’s work have no clear identity yet this draws you into the imagery further.
I have had a print of Julien’s on my wall for several years now but still don’t quite identify the character featured. To me this is a sign of a great portrait. One that you don’t immediately figure out will maintain your attention much longer.
