The Jaunt #10 | Istanbul
One says ‘Travel is the only purchase that makes you richer.’ and we have to agree that travel always gives us a new perspective on our practice and it is such a good investment for us as a designer/artist. The Jaunt, an independent project created solely to serve this purpose, have recently announced their latest trip and this time internationally-renowned visual artist, graffiti writer and designer Niels Shoe Meulman, aka Shoe, will be sent to Istanbul, a city that has been associated with major artistic events and religious history for more than 2 millennia.
So far The Jaunt have sent nine artists to different cities across the globe and for their tenth trip, Shoe will be spending a week in Istanbul soaking up the Mediterranean sun, spectacular skyline and Turkey’s outstanding set of monuments and ancient buildings in order for him to come back and produce a limited edition, handmade screen-print inspired by his experience in this Eastern-European city.
The silkscreen prints will be produced in editions of 50 and will be printed in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Each of them will also be individually signed and numbered by the artist. All the prints will remain sight unseen until Shoe returns from his trip and are now available for purchase. We’ll be keeping an eye out for his print and bringing you the latest updates – most definitely.
