LAY IT FLAT FOR THE PARTY SEASON

Since I managed to miss any photo opportunity of my outfit to the staff Christmas party I thought I would do a bit of #flatlay to show you! I am a huge advocate of head to toe black for the party season, especially when you are a little unsure of the dress code! Ideally, I would have gone for a new cocktail dress from the plus size cocktail dress range at ASOS , but alas my planning skills had me running a little short on time. This is really becoming a much too usual occurrence lately.

With my outfit I firstly chose an older skirt, from many years ago, it is heavily embellished with sequins and not those tiny sequins, but proper real size sequins! They lay flat against the fabric which just looks so classy. I teamed it with a sheer lace top with 3/4 sleeves that I found a long long time ago. It is also embellished with scattered sequins and beading, once put together the look can pull off as being a dress! To compliment the outfit I used my new little evening bag from ASOS and a pair of patent, lace up heels. When donning myself in head to toe black I do like to break up the look with texture and embellishments, otherwise you can start to look a little too business.

For my makeup I went for a fresh purple, red lipstick with a clean complexion. Accompanied by longer than normal perhaps not even mine lashes! There is no better way to ruin an outfit than to be heavy handed on the makeup and in my books it is always either a dark eye or dark lip, never both. So I skipped on the eye shadow almost completely (other than a few light highlights to brighten the eye!). Have you been to your staff Christmas party yet? What did you wear?
