Review: Clinique All About Shadow Galaxy and Eye Primer

Clinique has done it again. I’m super impressed with the eye primer. Yes, I’m telling you now, if you have oily lids, this one really helps your eye shadow stay. Look, I’m not that kind of person who beats around the bush, and say, “Why don’t you read all my ramblings and before you fall asleep, I’ll then tell you if it’s good or not”. I think I’m known for my straight talking so let’s just keep at that and not be coy, eh? Who’s with me?

The eye primer reminds me of a lip gloss and the texture is a little runny. Something new. Usually primers are thicker and maybe even of a gel texture, but this one is runny. There are a few shades, and I was sent the darker version. It doesn’t really bother me because I layer eye shadows on it anyway, and if worn alone, it adds a little depth on my lids which I quite like. I like to swipe that doe foot applicator on the back of my hand, use my ring finger to take some of the product then pat it on my lids. Please feel free to apply it directly using the applicator. There is no right or wrong way of applying this as long as you apply the primer on your lids and not your lips?

It doesn’t take long for this primer to dry on the lids. I apply eye shadows about 10 seconds after. The eye shadows apply more vibrant and I have no problems with blending either. Some primers I’ve tried are so sticky on my lids that I need to powder before applying my eye shadow, or it’ll turn out patchy and a bitch to blend. Have you experienced that? I compared this with my NARS eye primer and while the NARS one is translucent and siliconey, that’s about the only difference. Oh wait, Clinique eye primer is cheaper and more accessible. Eye shadows stay on my lids for 12 hours and still going. I was totally floored, so impressed! Remember my Black Honey FOTD? I was out the whole day and when I got home to finally remove my makeup, the eye makeup still looked fresh and didn’t crease one bit. There was some minor fading at the edges and that’s it.

Here’s a brief mention about the Clinique eye quad, which has the same texture as the Black Honey eye shadow that I reviewed earlier. Below is how Galaxy looks, 1 pass with my finger, on top of the Clinique eye primer. Isn’t it gorgeous? Look at that smooth buttery pigment! I will come up with a look using this quad, don’t you worry. I just need to get this review out of the way, so that I can concentrate on how to achieve the look next.

Have you tried any of Clinique’s eye makeup lately? The quad retails for RM120 and the primer costs RM68. Clinique Malaysia now has an online shop, in case you didn’t know. Very convenient, no? *wink wink nudge nudge*

xoxo Lily
