Sunday Stash Shopping #24 with Bobbi Brown Nectar & Nude Eye Palette

It’s been a while since I did a SSS. I also wanted to review this Bobbi Brown palette (looooooong overdue) so I thought I’d also do a quick write up on it. Bad blogger here, because I don’t know if the palette is still available, so if it is, be sure to let me know I haven’t been in the mood of much makeup, and I’ve been so lazy, I’ve just been going out after slapping on my tinted sunscreen. However, when I do want to look more polished, this palette is something I’ve been reaching for.

What I like about this palette is that it is mostly matte, with one metallic eye shadow and another glitter. I think we’ve established how I feel about Bobbi Brown’s glitters, so I’m glad there’s only 1 here. I think the glitter is a nice touch for a very subtle glimmer, but other than that, it doesn’t really do much. The metallic eye shadow however glides on smoothly and looks super foiled. I love it on the lids, while using the mattes to tone it down. However, what I’ve been using most are the matte colours. They are soft and easily blended, and because the colours are not super pigmented, I can be carefree and a little careless in the way I apply them. Great if you’re in a hurry, or if you’re just learning makeup. Here are the swatches, left to right.

For this particular look, I use the 2 shades on the left and 2 shades on the right. First, I use Pale Cream all over my lids all the way up to the brow bones. With a bigger blending brush, I sweep Soft Buff on the outer half of my lids, taking it slightly above the hollow of my eye socket. With the same blending brush, I dip it into Earth and now focusing the colour on the outer third of my lid, sticking to a limited space within my eye socket. With the darkest shade (Rich Caviar), I use a small pencil brush to darken the outer fourth of my lid, sweeping it down to the outer half of my lower lash line. Finish off with mascara. This technique gives you less hassle in blending, giving you a softer look that is polished and natural.

It is also great for monolids, or those with flatter eye surface like mine. Gives you the definition you need without looking fake. You know, faking the crease when you don’t have one can look pretty eeky if done wrong *shudder*

See? Easy right? For this picture, I used Earth to fill in my brows. On my cheeks, I’m wearing Burberry Peony and on my lips, Dior Tulip Pink. The touch of pink on my cheeks and lips put some life back to my complexion and if I looked a little ‘spacey’ in this photo, well, it’s because I very likely was! HAHAHA! I hope to be back with more posts soon, and I’m thinking of an update of what’s been happening while I’ve been MIA lately. We’ll see.
