Review: La Mer The Lifting Contour Serum & The Lifting and Firming Mask

My skincare has changed throughout the years, as it should. When I was younger, I was concerned about hydration and some breakouts or blocked pores. As I got a little older, brightening products dominated my skincare shelf. Then last year onwards, I focus more on anti ageing, firming and lifting skincare because I’m not getting any younger. I told you about my favourite moisturizers before and now, I’d like to tell you about a serum and a mask that lift and firm the skin. I’m fully aware that La Mer is not a brand for everyone. Heck, I got to try this duo because I’m blogging about it! The price is a set back, but I also know that among you readers are a few La Mer fans and some of you don’t mind paying for quality.

The Lifting Contour Serum, 30ml – RM1080

I have been using this serum for a few months already. In this serum are the ever famous cell-renewing Miracle Broth (TM) which helps infuse cells with its healing energies and promotes natural cell renewal, enabling skin to focus on its natural repair. The new Lifting Ferment(TM) helps promote skin’s natural collagen production for a more refined silhouette. Continuing La Mer’s famed history of transforming ingredients into a greater sum than their parts, this ferment combines Perennial Brown Algae, coined as ‘the fountain of youth'; copper-rich Blue Algae; and rejuvenating marine peptides to help enhance skin’s density and dimension.

Basically, all those sciency stuff is to tell us that their ingredients are primed to make our skin look firmer and healthier. I use this serum every morning and night, and after 2 months, I could tell that my skin was firmer. It just looks less ‘droopy’ on my jawline, if that makes sense. And somehow or rather, the pores at the sides of my nose appear smaller compared to a few months ago. Also, instead of using this serum alone, I use the Lifting and Firming mask twice a week to complement the routine.

The Lifting and Firming Mask 50ml – RM820

Everything about this mask is concentrated; carefully chosen to bring the ultimate lifting and firming activity. This serum strength sculpting mask helps accelerate skin’s ability to recapture its youthful resilience by supporting natural collagen production.

I use this mask at night before my evening skincare. After cleansing, I’d apply a thin layer all over my face and neck, let it sit for about 10 minutes before applying my moisturizer. The mask absorbs into the skin beautifully, leaving my skin super soft. Our skin naturally repairs itself at night, so this mask works together with our natural recovery, to increase density and restore elasticity of our skin. I noticed that the nasolabial folds aren’t as deep as before.

This power lifting duo changed my perception of ‘lifting and firming’. I always had the notion that while serums and masks work, they are more for preventive measures. Never had I imagined that I could actually SEE some results. I took some before after photos, but I can’t tell any difference shown in the images, so you just have to take my word for it. You’d know that I would tell you if I didn’t see any difference in real life. That’s also the reason I tested this duo for more than 3 months. I really appreciate the lifting action especially during this pregnancy. While bloating is imminent in the 3rd trimester, I don’t have a bulldog face >_< I am also pretty sure my skin is not stretched from the bloating because I’ve already noticed some changes earlier on.

The fountain of youth is a never-ending search since the beginning of time, so I’m not even deluding myself into believing that I could cheat time. I am very realistic when it comes to ageing but I am not one who will just sit back and do nothing while nature takes its course. Time and time again, it has been proven that my skin looks better than those who do not take care of themselves. Since genetics is not on my side, I rely on good skincare for help. Unfortunately, I am not one of those lucky ones who found their potions in drugstore brands. I believe that many of you think skincare is important or you wouldn’t be reading this otherwise.

Have any of you tried these 2 products? What’s your potion?

xoxo Lily
