Review: Guerlain Shine Automatique 760 Lou Ling

Can anyone please tell me if this is still available or if this is limited edition? I know this Shine Automatique is part of the Holiday collection 2012, but I’m not sure if it’s made limited edition or permanent. If it’s an LE item, please don’t shoot me. I actually really like this shade and I know I’m late but better late than never? Because Guerlain is so inaccessible to me, the stores are only limited to Kuala Lumpur, I don’t get to play with or buy their products, beautiful as they may be.

The Guerlain Shine Automatique I have comes in a shiny gold tube with a sliding knob. I don’t know what else to call it. You just slide that little button up and down to get the lipstick in and out. I’m not really a huge fan of this packaging though. I have to push out the whole lipstick bullet to apply, and if I’m clumsy, I might break the lipstick. I know there are some of you who love this packaging, so to each her own

Lou Ling swatches sheer on my arm. It is a red tinged with fuchsia and burgundy but on my lips, it just reads a brighter berry red. I agree with Sunny that since this is not an opaque shade, your natural lip colour plays a role in how the shade turns out. My lips are naturally pigmented, and that’s why it pulls more red on me. This formula is hydrating and light, unlike the Rouge Diors I’m used to, which are creamier and much more emollient. I did a comparison swatch of berry lip colours a few posts back, so here it is again to refresh your memory.

As you can see, on my arm, it is sheer and pulls more berry pink. Here is how it looks on my lips, where it looks more red than pink.

Have you tried any Guerlain lipsticks, Shine Automatique in particular? Did I just talk about something limited edition that was only available 2 years ago? Either way, it’s an oldie that is still good and it’s always a happy thing Guerlain lipsticks are expensive and I recommend that you only purchase it if you really love the shade and texture. I bought their Rouge L’Extrait in Luxure and I loved it. Too bad after 2 years, this liquid lipstick dried out on me It’s painful to see it go, but it is also a strong reminder that I shouldn’t be buying liquid / cream products anymore due to their limited shelf life.

xoxo Lily
