Review: Dior 5 Couleur Eyeshadow Palette 046 Golden Reflections
Golden Reflections is one of the 2 limited edition palettes launched in conjunction with their Holiday collection, Diorific Golden Shock. This palette, I find is the more unique of the two, mainly because it’s a mixture of cool and warm shades. The colour combination is definitely not your usual suspect, but they work together beautifully.
Golden Reflections is a combination of greys and golds, something I wouldn’t think to pair together. That’s quite possibly because I’m just not that creative, and as I was looking at the palette, I was wondering how these colours would all go together. Here’s a look at the 5 shades in the pan.
How do they swatch? My skin is light, and they all swatch pigmented, save the 2 lighter shades at the bottom of the palette. The lighter shades are a little drier and stiffer, and on the sheer side. The light beige works great at brow highlight on me, and the grey gives a light wash of colour on the lids without being overpowering. At the centre, we have a gold glitter that is very shimmer. It catches light from all angles and it’s beautiful.The texture is fine and soft, none of the chunky mess. Clockwise from top left, we have a dark grey, a muted antique gold, a sheer warm grey and a sheer light beige that sinks into my skin tone. I was surprised how harmonious they look together. Immediately, I had an idea of how to wear all these shades together, for a DAYTIME look.
I used the antique gold all over my lid before using the dark grey to darken the outer corner of my eyes. With the sheer grey, I used it to blend out harsh edges along the hollow of my eye socket. The light beige was used to highlight my brow bones and I dabbed just a tiny bit of that gold glitter at the centre of my lids, barely noticeable. I also used the antique gold to line my bottom lash line. I finished the look with a clean cat eye using a liquid liner, and a few coats of mascara. Here is how it looks.
I have to say, this is quite a versatile palette, taking you from day to night. For an evening look, simply use the dark grey as the main lid colour, adding blings using the gold glitter. For RM225, I’d understand if you find it a bit steep, and from experience, Dior eye palettes could be either a hit or a miss. However, most of my experiences were positive. While this palette is not as soft and buttery as say, Jardin and Cuir Cannage, I still like it for its uniqueness. Dior usually comes out with warm gold palettes for their Holiday collections, but this time round, I’m happy to see something a little different. Did you pick up anything from the Holiday collection?
