"Do you know, I'd get far more done if you lot stop distracting me with sewing challenges..." (Project Sewn : Wk 2 Pink edition)

Pssst,

did you miss me?

I'm trying to resurface (again).

I made something Tempesty. And put on some slap. I tried to smile. It worked :)

I can do this thing. I can climb out of this rut.

I'm a stubborn old cow, and there are too many things I want to do and see to be stuck away with my depression. I've got lots to show you too, I've been a painting whirlwind for the last month and a bit.....and I haven't shown you any of the redecorated rooms properly.

But I have to be honest with myself and admit that redecorating 3 rooms is just a distraction technique to convince myself I'm not going under.......but actually I've not been leaving the house again and using the painting as an excuse. "I can't go out, there's rooms in the house to de-brown". Hmmm.

I've managed to watch 16 of the 2014 Oscar nominated movies but only leave the house once to venture into a cinema (and that was only because I thought I should see Gravity in 3D as was intended). The goal this year is to see 40 of them, so with the 15 shorts coming On Demand soon I'm doing pretty well. BUT.....I haven't been leaving the house. Not so good.

Anywaaaaay.....the Project Sewn challenge and it's contestants Kathleen from Grosgrain, Sunni from A Fashionable Stitch, Rachel from House of Pinheiro, Alida from Alida Makes, Marcy from Oonaballoona and Lauren from Lladybird are totally inspiring me.

Last week, they gave us creations based on their favourite fashion icons.....this week its PINK... so as I've painted the Sewing Lair Pantone colour of the year Radiant Orchid (yep, with Pantone's paint range at Lowes) how could I resist making something to match and joining in on the fun (as well as the stars of Project Sewn, each week there's room for the rest of us to have a go).

I'm always in need of more 'playdresses' for when the temperatures go into the 100s (about 6 months of the year here in Phoenix), and this is one of my favourite patterns and a whole load of stash busting.

By the way "cute is not my thing" as Violet from The Incredibles would also like to point out:

The Facts

Fabric: loads of scraps from my stash, most original duvet covers or bed sheets from Goodwill or other thrift/charity shops.
Pattern: McCalls 6324.
Notions: 18" emerald green zip that's been in the stash forever so not sure how much it cost, thread.
Time to complete: 6 hours.
First worn: 11th February 2014.

Wear again? Yep, this one's going to get worn to death over summer.

Total Cost: $0 (£0)

The challenge: Project Sewn sewalong Week 2: Make It Pink

OK, that's my quickly knocked up make.....do make sure you go and visit the Project Sewn website and vote for your favourite Pink creation from the contestants proper! It's a seriously hard choice whether I chose people who's blogs I've been following for years (4 of them) or base it on the things they've produced this week.

OK, back to sewing curtains for the bedroom redecoration I also haven't shown you properly yet......unless I get distracted and sew something blue for the Sewcialist's Blue February.....

(Can you guess what's about to happen?)

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim.....sew blue stuff!

And possibly next week's Project Sewn challenge....shoes. You know me and shoes ;)

Ps. I can't think of 'pink' without also thinking of a wise jackalope, who said "Pink? Pink?! Well what's wrong with pink? Seems you've gotta pink ink in your think. Doesn't matter what colour or what gets a nope, be it pink, purple or heliatrope. Now sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down, when you find that you're down, well just look around, you've still got a body, good legs and fine feet, get your head in the right place and hey, you're complete" as well as lots of wisdom about rebounding. Rather pertinent that.
