The Thing About Change

So, I woke up this morning having struggled with only 2.5 hours sleep, with a new idea.

Ideas come fast and hard, I often have trouble getting them all out of my head, it seems they are all screaming for attention. Truth be told I’ve been burning the candle at both ends in so many areas of my life to the point of overwhelm over this past year.

I blog on at least 5-6 different blogs, and a host of social media platforms. I also raise two kids, run a home, cook and am involved in a myriad of freelance vocational tasks… I NEED to SLOW down.

As a family we have some pretty major life changes ahead of us, nothing I’m willing to share just yet, but in planning for the future, I need to address my present situation.

I’ll be cutting back on a lot of my blogging responsibilities, not only by choice, but out of need as I’ve enrolled in on-line studies for 2014. I’m finally going to do what I’ve always wanted to do, my diploma in Interior Design.

Some of you may know I’m a graphic designer by trade, having worked in new media and on-line for over a decade, but truth be told, as much of this website reflects, my passion is in interiors.

Looking back at this blog, it’s always been a little here and there, it doesn’t have a particular theme, more of a literal outpouring of my various creating endeavors.

So back to my big idea. A new blog. Wait, what? I thought you were trying to slow down not ADD things? Well yes and no. I’ve always felt the pressure to blog weekly, bi-weekly and then go through bouts of daily blogging, but I can’t maintain that rhythm with my current lifestyle and responsibilities.

So I’ve decided to start a new blog in Jan focusing purely on interiors, weekly home features, creative homes from friends around the world. Why weekly? Well it’s all I have time for, and truth be told I’m a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of on-line content these days, never having enough time to internalize it all. Weekly seems to be a good rhythm for both creation and consumption.

Why home tours? Well as I look back over the past year I’ve become a lot more visual, my preferred mediums of social media these days are Pinterest and Instagram and so a no-fluff, largely image based blog seems to be more in step with where I find myself.

I’ve already closed the door on two blogs this year, and will continue to keep this one up here, but will probably blog less frequently (well there have been some months where it’s been a month between posts!), and use it to continue sharing more of my personal life and adventures.

I’ll share more when I can, just wanted to get the words out of my head on onto these virtual pages.
