This one is huge. You don’t understand: making a dominican cake is to me like a graduation diploma. This process of finding a recipe that suited me, has been a fantastic pain in the butt learning experience.
So finally, after 4 tests, 3 dozen eggs, 16 sticks of butter and 5 pounds of flour, I humbly present you my recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Now, please do not be intimidated by this cake. The key is to divide and conquer: you may bake the cake and make the filling one night and the following morning you prepare the meringue and decorate. You know, piece by piece, like Jack the ripper :)
Since I’m no expert at decorating and frosting cakes (God knows I’m not!) I’d like to share with you some super helpful links that will aid you on your cake-frosting quest:
- How to create a super smooth finish on your cake (video). Watch it here
- If you’d like to get more info on how to assemble and decorate a cake, check out Maris Cakes’ blog. Detailed step by step instructions. Highly recommend it! Click here
Buen provecho!
