The Review: Victoria Beckham Spring/Summer ’14

With her Spring/Summer 2014 collection, Victoria Beckham has officially dropped “Posh Spice” from her list of titles for a far greater one: Love child of Helmut Lang, Serena Williams and Ricardo Tisci of Givenchy. (“She’s more like the middle person in a prayer circle of the three,” according to a friend of mine.) However, with no relevance of how you look at it, drawing inspiration from this ménage à trois of spectacular individuals will show you exactly what VB was going for. Sporty yet sleek and minimal.

While combining asymmetrical cuts with layers of delicate white pleats, an amazing array of boxy jackets, slim-fit knee-length shorts and sharpened tunics were dispersed throughout the lineup. Tie all of that together with the minimal makeup and basic hairbands, and it’s truly a show of essential pieces for a variety of events. Remember, one doesn’t have to be adorned to be adorable, and these simple yet stunning pieces will have you dressed up to receive far higher acclaims than just “you’re adorable.”
