Month in Review: This Was November

Yes, hi, November.

SUNNY BREAKFAST On November 1st, Will and I ended up having breakfast at Lof der Zoetheid with G and Lin. The weather was super nice, we planned a weekend away together in December and the scones at LDZ are simply unparalleled.

BOAT BABY On November 2nd, this beautiful bearded idiot and I drove to his father’s house. Will worked on Jottum, I blogged and we had dinner at his mom in the evening.

WORK DATE On November 5th, Mariet came over for a work date. I can work from home and she can too, so we decided to get shit done together before we had an impromptu Wednesday evening drink. We had a few glasses of wine and a junk food meal after.

DINNER DATE On November 7th, Lin and G came over for dinner. I made blue cheese risotto with apple and walnuts, an avocado-zuchini salad (recipe by Iris!) and a spectacularly rich, delicious, 3-hours of work pumpkin pie.

OBSESSED I had pumpkin pie with my coffee for the rest of the week. I regret nothing.

CHILLING WITH THE BAE Will and I spent the rest of the weekend together. Which in retrospect is nice, because I don’t feel like I’ve seen him at all these past two weeks.

GIRL GOES RUNNING I wrote my first article for Girls Love 2 Run. I have a bet with Will that I have to run half a marathon before September 2015. I’m excited!

However, can’t do much with that excitement. Because of my ankle I can’t run yet. Keep you posted. On the GL2R website, that is.

EDIT EDIT EDIT Will was away a lot, and I was working on the 50 Days Until 2015 E-Book a whole bunch. In my head, all that editing meant I didn’t have to cook, so I ordered pizza and cinnamon sticks. And Coca Cola.

50 DAYS TO 2015 Dropped the ebook. So far, I’ve heard mostly positive feedback as well as some super helpful constructive criticism, and we’re at 390 USD for charity at this very moment. Freaking cool.

I very much enjoy doing it, although I have to admit this weekend I’ve been slacking. Separate update soon.

JUICE JUICE BABY Went to Sajoer with Thamar! Sajoer is a Rotterdam-based slow juice bar and their juices are GREAT, Thamar is my favorite bad ass bitch body positivity person, you should read her blogs and ogle all the gorgeous plus sized models she writes about. It’s what I do.

HIGH TEA BABY I took Lin to a fancy high tea at Bridges in Amsterdam as a birthday present. It was wonderful. It was in the cozy library of the Bridges restaurant and its adjacent hotel. We had champagne and oysters first, and next we had a classic afternoon te with sandwiches, scones and wonderful different teas per ‘course’. It was great. And the library is perfect for lounging and having long relaxed talks with your date.

DINNER WITH THE PARENTS I invited my parents over for dinner and because I am a one trick pony I made another risotto, salad and the amazing pumpkin pie for dessert.

I love hanging out with my parents. When I don’t see them for two weeks I start to miss them, so I try as much as I can to see them at least once a week. This is not always possible, but I manage to fit it in most of the time.

DATE NIGHT Will and I are not seeing much of each other lately. Wer’e both busy at work, we see friends, we work out and all of a sudden an entire week has passed by without even having dinner together.

We try to have dinner somewhere together once a week at this point, just so we can catch up. Last date was at the Paviljoen, a restaurant on the campus where I work. The food there is really nice and it’s a cool place to sit for a while.

And although I am a big fan of bare-faced and hair-in-a-bun: Occasionally I put in effort.

(Not that Mariet isn’t beautiful, but I am actually WAY more interested in showcasing that I’m obviously HILARIOUS)

I LOVE BEAUTY WEEKEND I took Mariet with me to the I Love Beauty Event, and we stayed in Hotel Lumen the night before my workshop. We drove there on Friday night, got MacDonalds, checked in and had a bottle of wine in the hotel bar before going to bed. We talked about everything, including our shared love of games, fantasy, science fiction, and the Winchester brothers.

I DID A THING You can read about the event here, but I am LOVING the face I am making in this picture mid-speak. I look like a dolphin.

NOVEMBER 30TH I had a date with my friend who lives in Utrecht and we saw the Mockingjay together.

Which was really fun for him, because I literally started crying 20 seconds after Jennifer Lawrence first came into view and I only stopped intermittently. I blame it on being really tired from work, the workshop and being DEEPLY emotionally invested in the Hunger Games after reading the trilogy 5 times at least. Don’t judge me. Or do, I’m not the boss of you.

Afterwards we had lunch with rose lemonade and sandwiches.

When we said goodbye, I cycled home, jumped on the couch and didn’t move except to accept food from Will and then going to bed after.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • I became obsessed with 1989 by Taylor Swift and the computer game Don’t Starve. It was one of the games I saw
Markiplier play that I knew I could play as well, so I downloaded Steam and got my game on.
  • We now have Netflix and it is great/awful. Rewatching old Doctor Who.
  • My mom is on a mission to scan old pictures and make a timeline of my brother and me, so when I went over there for dinner I spent about 40 minutes laughing my head off at all our old baby pictures. This one is my favorite. Demon child reporting for duty.
  • I have been having some very disappointing, stressful and demanding weeks at work. Will has been my saviour. At one point I came home, had dinner and clung to him like a koala bear for the rest of the night.
  • Been going to bed early a lot. I fucking love it.
  • I spent AN ENTIRE WEEKEND on my own. I played Don’t Starve, watched Doctor Who, ate really good pasta and slept a lot. It was like being in a cocoon for 2,5 days. It was lovely.
  • I watched the last two Doctor Who episodes last night. I was still so tired from the weekend and emotional from seeing the Mockingjay that I started crying over it. And then Will laughed at me, so my completely logical, sensible and not at all overdramatic and exaggerated response to this was to start yelling at him that he was mean and heartless and that he didn’t feel anything ever. (…I really needed some sleep you guys.)

I have no further remarks except that Mariet and I are fucking cute ok

Bye!
