Event – Adelaide Beauty Conference 2013

On a warm and sunny day in October, 35 ladies and gents came together to celebrate all things beauty, hair care and skin care and what better way to do that than at the annual Adelaide Beauty Conference (ABC). With each year the conference has continued to expand and this year was no different, as such a bigger venue to hold all the beauty lovers was need and the Education Development Centre fit the bill perfectly.

Founded by Celeste Wong of Becoming-Beautiful.com in 2011, the conference aims to bring beauty bloggers across Adelaide under the same roof to learn, network and celebrate all that is beautiful inside and out.

The theme this year was Beauty with a Conscious and focused on cruelty free products and processes.

We were delighted by Laura and Robyn from Guinot who showed such passion about the brand and treated us to a demonstration of the Guinot Aromatic Facial.

Jaala from Love Organic Beauty, Australia’s online supplier of Couleur Caramel spoke to us about being aware of what goes into our body and the environment. We chatted about the importance of where ingredients come from and the impact of ingredient production.

Jaala had been kind enough to supply us with a huge selection of Couleur Caramel goodies to play with so we decided it was the best time for the attendees to get in on the action.

The attendees were paired up and tasked with creating a make-up look from the theme ‘Nature’.

We also had a QR Treasure hunt sponsored by Natures Organics and enjoyed watching everyone run around frantically with their phones out.

All worn out, it was time for lunch and the amazing Two-Bit Villains treated us to burgers and homemade soda that even featured our logo.

After lunch Davroe showed us how to take care of your hair without the use of harsh chemicals or compromising on quality or ethics.

Anthony from The Urban silhouette won our lucky door prize and helped showcase Davroe’s styling products.

Afternoon tea was supplied by The Cupcake Table and it all looked and tasted divine.

Paul, a barrister educated us on Australian law. Where do we stand in regards to the use of photos on our blogs and how we treat brands and individuals.

Our final speaker was the wonderful Christina from The Hungry Australian.

She spoke about the best ways to get photos for your blog; setting the scene and the use of props.

And to put this new-found knowledge to the test we ran our final competition for the day and got the attendees to take a photo of one of our sponsors People for Plants products using the hashtag #pfpgraphy.
