Badgers Hill Farm

Back in April, my BFF took me for a birthday cream tea at Badgers Hill Farm, in Chilham, Canterbury. This quaint little tea room/ farm shop/ garden centre/ animal sanctuary is such a lovely place to go if you're looking for something different to do on a Saturday afternoon.
The lovely farm shop is filled with homemade local jams and chutneys, sweet handmade gifts, locally brewed ciders, glass jars filled with chocolate fish and sugar mice. They have an array of lovely home ware and nic-nacs and delightful savoury biscuits... I could go on.
After minutes of debating whether I should have a glass of Fentimans Rose Lemonade and victoria sponge wedge, we ordered a cream tea for two. It was so good. I love a scone with lashings of clotted cream... when you get offered whipped cream or just butter I find it highly offensive! Call me British or a scone-snob whatever, but it is just wrong! Luckily we had a pot of glorious fresh clotted cream with our order. Phew!
We sat in an oversized greenhouse lined with white garden tables and chairs. The seats had crocheted cushions and the bigger tables had gingham oilcloth with ceramic guinea pigs eyeing up your food. Chimes and decorations hung from the metal eaves and it felt like a Faery den. It was quite wonderful actually.

After our tea and coffee we went for a wander around the grounds. There were Alpacas and Ostrich. Wallabies and Goats. There were pigs too, lazing around in their muddy pens. Cockerels and Hens waddled and clucked around the place. I felt like I was in my mother's garden! It was lovely. It feels homely.
There is an oversized greenhouse with shelves that are lined with heather and herbs and pansies and more. And pebbled paths that display terracotta pots, stone statues and pretty sundials that you can buy. There is also a corner packed with barrels where they brew their own beers and ciders. This place has everything!

My sister had put in her order for Honeycomb and I couldn't resist buying some rose lemonade and a chocolate pig.
