12 Handy Gadgets for the Clean-Eating Kitchen

Eating a real-food based diet does often mean more cooking but with the right tools you can save time and keep meals from getting boring.

A lot of these tools got daily use during our Whole30 run (you can read more about our experience here). We’re gearing up to do a send Whole30 soon and I know a lot of people are trying it right now so I thought I’d share 12 kitchen tools and gadgets I love that make life easier in a clean-eating kitchen:

  1. Garlic Press: With clean-eating, seasoning can make or break a simple meal and you can never go wrong with garlic. We always have a bulb or two on hand and I love my garlic press!
  2. Egg Timer: Meat can get tiresome, especially if you follow Whole30 or Paleo and eggs are a nice protein option. My hard-boiled eggs never come out right unless I use this egg timer. It’s genius.
  3. Mezzaluna: This is my most used kitchen utensil by far. Not only is it great for chopping herbs and veggies that need some force to cut (spaghetti squash, sweet potatoes, etc). it is awesome for easily cutting up kid food.
  4. Food Processor: While this isn’t my favorite appliance to clean, I have used mine several times a week for the 7 years I’ve own it. During Whole30 it got used almost daily (sometimes twice).
  5. Nutribullet: We’ve long been fans of the MagicBullet but this has way more power. We grind our coffee in it, make the kids smoothies in it, and it makes whip cream in about .5 seconds. While a BlendTec or Vitamix would be awesome, this is much more budget friendly.
  6. Nespresso CitiZ: An affordable espresso maker. I got mine for my birthday almost 3 years ago and still love it just as much. The milk frother can do hot or cold which makes a fancy at home latte or cappuccino. During Whole30 when all dairy was out, this was a lifesaver for me. I’m not a fan of black coffee but I do love my espresso black! (Tip: order your capsules directly through the Nespresso site. The shipping is fast and they have the best price. At the time we bought it, the capsules were slightly less per coffee than our Keurig pods. Now when I drink a Keurig coffee somewhere, it tastes weak by comparison.)
  7. KitchenAid Stand Mixer: Sure, it’s an investment but these things last years, if not decades. From baking to homemade breads and pizza crusts, ours gets a ton of use.
  8. Salad Spinner: This keeps our greens fresh for so long it’s crazy. Well worth less than $20 for all the lettuce it saves.
  9. CrockPot: Slow Cooker meals are as easy as it gets and they always come out tender and yummy. A great option for nights when you know you won’t have a lot of time to cook dinner.
  10. Misto: I love that this one has the window so you can see how much oil is left in it. Did you know PAM has all kinds of icky chemicals? We keep ours filled with olive or avocado oil. Be sure to clean between fillings so it doesn’t get moldy!
  11. Spiralizer: Three different blades for creating all kinds of things! Zoodles (Zucchini Noodles), Shoestring Sweet Potato Fries and Onion Straws are just a few of our favorite things to do with this. It fits quite nicely in our cabinet too.
  12. Juicer: I swear by my Cold Busting Green Juice and it’s awesome for using up any fruits and veggies that won’t last another day. Instead of throwing them out, juice ‘em!

Happy, healthy cooking!
