Iittala lighting news autumn 2014

Iittala lighting news autumn 2014 are a part of Iittala’s exciting movement towards developing a wider collection of meaningful small furniture, lightning and accessories for the home.

Iittala’s striking table lamp Leimu Lamp by Magnus Pettersen that masterfully combines glass and concrete together is now available in an elegant grey. The combination of the grey glass ‘shade’ and the concrete base creates a streamlined design that emphasises the beauty of both materials.

Leimu launched in 2013 with an amber-coloured glass shade and has already been highly praised across the design spectrum including being awarded the prestigious iF Golden design award. Designed by the London-based, Norwegian-born Magnus Pettersen, the Leimu has carved out a key position in Iittala’s significant extension of its lighting collection.

The organic form of the Kuukuna Lamp by Oiva Toikka creates an effortless, ambient Scandinavian glow – making it perfect for a side table, book shelf or any living space that needs a touch of warmth into the room. Group more than one together to make a significant lighting statement.

The Kuukuna was originally designed in 1986 by the master craftsman Oiva Toikka and made by expert glass blowers in Iittala’s workshops. Iittala has dug into its archives and decided to resurrect this mouth-blown glass light but, this time around, in a slightly larger form than it originally appeared.

This six-armed Nappula Candelabra by Swedish-born Matti Klenell is designed as a table centrepiece, but also looks delightful on any surface that needs to be cheered up with a quirky accessory and a warm glow. Nappula holds tall candles or tiny tea lights, or a combination of the two. It is made from white powder-coated steel and the arms all sit at varying heights giving the light a playful, ethereal quality.

The candelabra are part of the evolution of the original Nappula single candleholders designed by Matti Klenell in 2012. Now, both sizes of the single Nappula candle holder are launching in a sunny, bright yellow.
