Bold prints

What do you think about fashion that aims to get noticed?

Some time ago I read an article wrote by one of my favorite bloggers Garance Doré who was writing about Charlotte Olympia and her ability in designing bold accessories able to add a sense of novelty and humor to any outfit. The famous British fashion designer is able to transform common objects to exclusive and desirable luxury accessories.

Personally I think this ability is a prerogative of some people, not everyone can get a credible result transforming the most extravagant of the objects in a must have without being ridiculous.
I can still remember on the streets of Paris during Fashion Week, last February, all the photographers looking at a girl who had a big teddy bear as a bag. The result was super cute, but I’m still wondering if I’d be able to do the same.

So if this attitude is often the prerogative of accessories, more and more designers today draw bold prints and exuberant pattern hopefully ready to be the newest recognizable and desirable must-haves.

This is the case of Massimo Giorgetti the creator behind MSGM and of the Italian duo behind Project 149 that I met thank to the “Who is on next” ?.

And who knows if their out of scale anthurium will not become a must have for next Spring – Summer.

Cosa ne pensate della moda che punta a farsi notare?

Tempo fa lessi un articolo di una delle mie blogger preferite Garance Doré che scrivendo di Charlotte Olympia parlava della capacità di alcuni accessori di aggiungere un senso di novità e di humour a un outfit. La famosa stilista inglese per esempio è stata capace di fare di oggetti comuni degli esclusivi e appetibili accessori di lusso.

Personalmente trovo questa capacità una prerogativa di alcune persone, non tutti riescono ad ottenere un risultato credibile capace di trasformare il più stravagante degli oggetti in un must have senza risultare ridicolo.

Ancora ricordo tra le strade di Parigi durante la Paris Fashion Week dello scorso febbraio, tutti gli obbiettivi puntati su una ragazza che aveva come borsa un enorme orsacchiotto di peluche. Il risultato era molto gradevole, ma ancora mi chiedo se io stessa ne sarei stata capace.

Ma se questo accento di novità è spesso prerogativa degli accessori, sempre più stilisti oggi puntano a disegnare stampe fuori scala ed esuberanti destinate a diventare dei must have riconoscibili e desiderabili.

E’ il caso di Massimo Giorgetti di MSGM e del duo tutto Italiano dietro Project 149 che ho conosciuto grazie al concorso “Who is on next”?.

E chissà che i loro anthurium fuori scala non diventeranno un must della prossima Primavera Estate.
