Zuzana's Visit with Peacocks and Wildlife

Zuzana is spending 2 weeks with us to work intensely with her supervisor (The Hubs). What I gain from this is extra companionship and a couple of days "off" from cooking dinner!

In her first week, we saw wild kangaroos at Mount Lofty and along our street, plus the special treat of spotting the famous bull koala of our neighbourhood. What I thought was a huge beehive at the top of the gum tree turned out to be a fluffy and round koala. Too bad I do not have photographic evidence; you'll have to take my word for it.

The clouds finally broke away early this week, and Tuesday morning presented us with a pair of peacocks! They were curious about Pickle, and Pickle was just as curious about them. (Probably the biggest birds she has ever seen.)

The peacocks stuck around until sunset, keeping an eye on me as I collected wood outside, and even supervised my cooking.

We have been enjoying a lot of home-cooking with vegetarian flair, accompanied by wine and a warm fire. Zuzana made delicious couscous-stuffed vegetables last night.

Next week we are going to enjoy a crowded house with 3 students staying over -- Pickle's going to love all the attention! And I can't wait to begin adventuring South Australia and Adelaide with these friends.
