Life Poems:: My Dad's Last Wish

Today I received heart breaking news ... the nurses tell me my dad has a few hours left of his awesome battle with prostrate cancer ... I knew this day was coming ... here's a poem for you DAD!
** My Dads Last Wish **

I knew it was coming ...
Those words ...
I did not want to hear ...

The words ...
He only has ...
A few hours or more ...

It weighs on my heart ...
Like a ton of bricks ...

In my early years ...
We were not always close ...

I was angry ...
Feeling robbed ...
He did not try to stay close ...

But then ...
Time went bye ...

In forgiveness ...
Spent with time ...

We grew together ...
Once again ... intertwined ...

He reached out to me ...
With one ...Last wish ...
That we would stay close ...

Cancer was consuming him ...
Stealing him ...
With every second ...
Of every day ...

Each day we cried ...
We laughed together...
Sharing memories ...

Now my heart is heavy ...
Saying goodbye ...
Is never easy ...

My tears
Are my last gift to you...
Too our love ...
