April Favourites

A little bit later than planned but here is a quick roundup of what I was loving last month...

Collection's "Does it all 5 in 1" mascara is cheap cheerful and not too dissimilar to Benefit's "They're Real" I love the shape of the brush and the fact that its really flexible which seems to coat my lashes better. This mascara lengthens and separates my lashes really well. A bargain!

On a daily basis I have been wearing Bourjois' Healthy Mix foundation which I would say is sheer/medium coverage. I tend to apply it with my fingers as it blends really easily and sits well on the skin without caking or looking patchy at the end of the day (I dunno about it's claim for 16 hour coverage as I don't think I have had it on for that long, it seems doubtful, but it's still a good drugstore foundation) I love their gel/serum Healthy Mix foundation too. The shade pictured is Dark Beige.

MAC Lustre Drops is a golden liquid you can use to highlight certain areas of the face or mix in with whatever base you are using. I am always on the lookout for something which will make my skin "glow" without looking like a glitterball as some make-up brands tend to think lots of glitter/iridescence in a product=glowing skin, it doesn't. I'm forever searching for that dewy "glow" you know what I mean right? This stuff is good, you only need a tiny amount and can build up from there. There's a wee bit of shimmer in there, but not a crazy amount.

Next up is a sunscreen from Kiehls, and in an effort to try to protect the skin on my face a bit better I've upped the sunscreen to SPF 50, and swapped my moisturiser for one without SPF if I am putting this on top before my make up (there's not really much point adding another SPF to one this high for my skin) The formula isn't greasy, and doesn't affect your make up application in any way, as it sinks perfectly into the skin, I love it!

Lastly, I have been loving the Ambre candle by Diptyque. I toyed with getting one of these for a while, but this smells so lovely I treated myself to it the last time I was in Space NK. It's warm, powdery and musky, fragranced with vetiver, patchouli and citrus. Definitely a grown up scent and not sweet or sickly like some candles can be. It's currently on my beside table and I'm loving getting wafts of the smell every now and then.

So that's it, my April favourites!
