Super Simple DIY Bean Bag Toss

I have another fun diy as part of the Elmer’s Blogger Crew series, and this one is perfect for all those Summer parties you’re planning, or for a fun summer activity the kids can share with friends. I love it for a few reasons – it folds up nice and flat and can be stored just about anywhere, it was inexpensive, the kiddos can help make it, and the possibilities are endless!

Catch me after the jump for all the details!

Foam Board Bean Bag Toss

Supplies:

  • Elmer’s Tri-Fold Foam Board
  • Markers (by the foam boards Elmer’s has a new selection of markers, glue and stickers just for foam boards)
  • Number Stickers (or you could just use the markers)
  • Stickers
  • Exacto Knife
  • Bean Bags (you can even just fill up little zip lock baggies – double them up!)

I had a chance to try out the new markers, glue and stickers that Elmer’s has designed specifically for foam board and I loved them. The colors were very saturated in the markers, but note that they are not water proof. The stickers were nice because the were reposition able, and then when you had them where you wanted them you could use some of the glue stick to make it permanent.

Directions:

These first few steps are for an adult.

Open up the tri-fold foam board and using the exacto knife, cut at an angle from the top corner of one to just outside the fold line as shown.

Then draw circles in the center part of the foam board. I used a bowl to trace around and made 6 circles.

Cut out the circles with the exacto knife. One tip with using the knife – I was trying to use it like a saw at first but found when I just pushed down into the board and then pulled around the circle it was a snap.

Now for the part the kids can help with! I let my 7 year old use the markers and then my 5 year old did the stickers.

He colored around the circles and added some little do-dads, and then she just stuck some stickers on. I am learning that my boy is a bit of a minimalist. At his age turned loose with the markers I would have had the whole top colored :). I put the number stickers on for them.

Then take it outside and let ‘em at it! It is perfect in the grass, or on the carpet as they both hold the sides in. Perfect for barbecues, birthday parties, school carnivals or just a day of fun in the Summer.

You could even make a ring toss using pegs pushed into the foam board and really a number of other carnival type games!

Hope everyone is seeing warmer weather – it’s been crazy in Texas! One day it hot, the next it’s cold :)

A big thank you to Elmer’s for sponsoring this post and providing me with the supplies to create this fun project!
