"The Normal Heart"

A gay activist attempts to raise HIV/AIDS awareness during the early 1980s.

The Normal Heart has been a well known play Off Broadway for years with a recent successful run on Broadway. For the upcoming HBO movie adaption, Ryan Murphy (the creative force behind Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story) was chosen to direct the cast which includes a Mark Ruffalo as Ned weeks, Matt Bomer as his closeted lover Felix Turner, Julia Roberts as a a wheelchair-bound physician and polio survivor, and (a blonde) Taylor Kitsch as a openly gay friend of Weeks. From the trailer, it seems to be a fiercely emotional story that may ink out a career best lead performance from Mark Ruffalo (that may rival his work in the upcoming film Infinitely Polar Bear).

The Normal Heart will premiere on HBO on May 25.
