Black Sparkle

Black Sequin Lace Set: Crop Top Skirt c/o Express {currently 50% OFF!!} | Black Pumps | similar Black Clutch | ‘Bruised Plum’ Lipstick

Holiday season is quickly approaching {can you believe it?!}, so it’s time to whip out all the glitz glam that’s been hiding in your closet. Or maybe not so hidden, if you’re like me and love to rock a good sparkle number year round.

Express has always been one of my go-to stores for holiday wear. Case in point, last year’s NYE inspiration. But I honestly shocked myself with this matching sequin duo! It’s probably no surprise, but I’m typically not a huge fan of the ‘tight and restrictive’ type clothing. I’m a ‘fit and flare’ kinda girl all the way. But when I saw the delicate detailing of this crop top pencil skirt, I thought ‘hey, let’s try it!’ The fabric is honestly super soft {not itchy at all} and has a good amount of stretch, so I could totally see myself rocking this look for hours on end and being comfortable.

What may come as a shock, is that this is actually my first ever crop top I’ve styled…gasp. Haha, I know some of you probably have your jaw to the keyboard at this point. But it’s true, and I’ll tell you why. 1. I’m short, with an extremely short torso. Translation, there’s usually no such thing as a ‘crop top’ for me; it’s just a shirt. And while I’ve accepted the fact that I have to get pretty much everything tailored, hemming a shirt just seems crazy. 2. I was raised in an extremely modest home, so growing up I always shied away from ‘revealing’ clothing. Which isn’t a bad thing! Although I have to say, I think this set is not only flattering, but tasteful.
Well done Express!
