A Perfect Fall Day

I never get weekends off, but somehow I managed to get this past Sunday off. My boss needed me to work an extra day during the week and at first I was bummed about having Sunday off (it's the biggest money maker at work) but in the end I was so happy to have rest day AND a day to spend with Izzy.

We decided to make the most of the day because it was beautiful. Low 60's and sunny. It was the perfect fall day.

Our first stop was to our favorite brunch restaurant, Pier Five Hundred, which was, as usual, delicious.

We both had a few mimosas (I mean for a dollar apiece how can you not?) and the strawberry French toast. It was amazing!

Afterward we headed to Afton Apple Orchard. I mostly wanted to get pumpkins but there's so much to do there that we ended up doing a whole lot more than we bargained for!

First we decided to take a little walk through the corn maze, which was so fun because there were trivia questions throughout it. I was a little scared we'd never get out but we made it through!

Once we found out way out we headed over the where all the other activities were. I wanted to check out the little petting zoo they had and Izzy made bestest friends with one of the donkeys. I swear if we didn't already have three dogs at home he would have adopting the donkey.

Then we went to the pumpkin patch! I wanted to find one big pumpkin for us and then get three little ones for the dogs. We ended up finding the big pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and then getting the three little ones in the one site store.

Izzy guessed that it weighed about 10 lbs. In reality? 26 lbs! Holy cow!
When we got home we were exhausted! We settled in, made some dinner, and decided that rather than carved pumpkins Izzy would draw on them instead.

I think Iz did an amazing job and I can't wait to try to get pics of the dogs by the pumpkins later this afternoon. And I have to say I love seeing OUR last name on that big pumpkin. It's kind of awesome.
I could definitely get used to having Sundays off...
