Recipe: Healthy Frozen Chocolate Banana Bites

I recently have been experimenting with making some protein balls and whilst I was messing about and watching Haste’s Kitchen on Youtube he made some chocolate dipped fruit which needed to go in the freezer. I didn’t have any almond butter so I made some chocolate banana bites without the butter and boy are they scrummy. The best way to describe them is like when you bite into a choc ice. Yum! but much healthier.
I find I can only eat a couple of these at a time, mainly because the chocolate is so rich with being so dark but also because they’re so damn hard to get off the plate. It might be worth putting some oil or cling on the plate before putting the chocolate dipped bites in there to stop them sticking.

Serves: 1 ProPoints: 1 per 2 bites Prep Time: 5 minutes Freeze Time: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 Banana
  • 25g Plain Chocolate with at least 75% cocoa solids
  • Method

  • Melt the chocolate in a bowl either over a pan of hot water or in the microwave. I choose the microwave, it’s easier, quicker and less messy.
  • Peel and slice banana into quite thin coins.
  • Pop in the freezer

That’s it! Done!
They probably need a couple of hours to freeze down but after that they’re ready to go! Bear in mind these won’t keep very long, the banana might go strange and black but these are super scrummy so they should be all gone before this happens!
