Veil Cover Cream Review

One of my main skin related issues is post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or red marks. I don’t know whether it’s just because I’m pale, or my skin is terrible at healing or what but every little spot I get leaves a horrible red mark. I’m already doing things to combat this, like wearing suncream to stop them from going darker and using my trusty Alpha H Liquid Gold to exfoliate and increase cell turnover, but it’s a slow process (like anything) and in the meantime I like to cover the marks up.

I often find that a lot of concealers don’t really cover them up in their entirety so when I was contacted to see if I would like to try out Veil Cover Cream I didn’t hesitate.

Veil cover cream is a camouflage makeup that covers tattoos, scars, birthmarks, varicose veins. It is waterproof, has SPF15 and comes in a range of shades to suit every skin tone. It is also widely used in hospital dermatology departments.

I received a sample kit in light/medium which has lots of different sample shades and a small pot of the translucent powder.
It’s quite a thick cream but it covers spots and scars really well! You really don’t need a lot so I imagine it would last quite a long time as well. What I really like about the sample kit is that there’s such a wide range of colours in the kit so you can definitely find one to suit your skintone. It also includes a white cream too so if you can’t quite find one to match (like me) you can mix your own.

One drawback I found to the cream is that this is a concealer you definitely cannot skip the powder with. It can be very slippy, especially if you are on the oiler end of the spectrum. I find I actually need more powder than normal to set this and it’s really no good on my chin as it ends up creasing in the area underneath my bottom lip.

I also found the lasting power to be a bit mixed as well. If I’m wearing this out and about then it’s great, but when I’m at work and constantly resting my hand on my face it doesn’t really last much longer than normal concealers.

I don’t think I will be repurchasing a full size version of this, mainly because there isn’t one shade that really matches my skin exactly without me having to mix it and I don’t feel it’s worth me purchasing two or three colours. Furthermore some of my foundations such as my Illamasqua Skin Base and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk are more yellow than pink toned which renders it quite useless really. However I really recommend the sample kit, it’s a great way to figure out what colour you need and the vast array of shades means I can make the perfect colour to match.
