Dabbling with Yet Another Dry Shampoo!

*Disclosure: I am a #BeautyUnited blogger. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events. The opinions on this blog are my own*

Oh man oh man…

Having fallen off the blogging train, it has been hard catching up. I basically see myself as Tris when she is running for the train to Dauntless…except I can’t run! I hope that you have all been doing well and enjoying what is left of summer :T

Anyway, many months ago, I got a lovely box of Herbal Essences goodies thanks to Beauty United. It was my second venture into the new line, as I got the Shampoo and Conditioner through BzzAgents a month prior to this one.

But what I really REALLY wanted from the new line, was the dry shampoo.

(Yes that is the Tangle Teezer in the background. No I did not have an option to pick another colour. That was the only one in stock when I went to Sally Beauty Supply)

My absolute GO TO dry shampoo, is Batiste. Mentioned a few times on the blog, and for good reason. The only issue is that it is a tad pricey, so I try and get them at Winners, or when there is a clearance sale.

Thus, price is the main reason why I liked trying out various products from different brands. Yes the saying is that we shouldn’t fix something that ain’t broke…but hey, this is a blog :P

So, what’s up with the Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo?

refresh your strands, water not necessary. with natural tapioca, my formula absorbs oil and rejuvenates dirty hair for a clean feeling. invigorate your strands with the scent of white grapefruit and mint and feel naturally beautiful without parabens or dyes.

First off, this is the first (?) dry shampoo that really applies on the wet side. Because of that, I leave it for a little bit to dry up, before trying to manipulate my head.

Just sprayed…

After about 20 seconds

Basically, I spray this in my hair, then brush my teeth. By then it should have dried down to the powder finish. That is when I pick up my Tangle Teezer and go to town.

I place the Tangle Teezer on my head, and wiggle it about. Kind of like a head massage, type of deal. After, I brush down. After doing this, I usually don’t have a problem seeing any white left in my hair.

Here is my trial for one use. Basically I had to spray 3 rounds. Left represents the before, and right reps the after. You can see the difference from the first picture (Upper left corner) to the last picture (lower right corner).

I LOVE the smell. It seems really overpowering when I received my box of goodies, but it really does smell nice. My gripe would be that I need a few rounds of this to get the desired effect, which means that I will go through a bottle faster. Also, others have stated that their bottles died out after only a couple of uses. I was one of the lucky ones, but I have had that happen to me with a few dry shampoos (but it has never happened to any of the Batiste ones that I have used in the past). Oh, I should also note that it doesn’t feel like a hair spray. I think it was Vidal Sassoon? but that one made my hair feel crunchy, so I wasn’t very impressed with that one.

Would I buy it again?
Well if I factor in the fact that it could clog up on me, I would say that I would buy it again. HOWEVER, only if it is under the $4 mark.

And guess what?
It is currently on Rollback at Walmart.ca for $2.46 as of this post. I picked two up since it was free shipping :D. I figured that even if it craps up on me, and lasts only a few uses, for tat price I’ll be okay. Besides, I need to pack one for my trip in a few weeks, so why not.

You can see more mini reviews on the Herbal Essences Website.

In regards to the Tangle Teezer…I should have a review eventually. You can find them at Sally Beauty Supply (yes, even in Canada), or at Nail Polish Canada (free shipping :D)
