Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream (Medium)

This is my first CC cream. It is also my first non-Asian BB/CC cream. Clinique is one of my favorite brands so I had faith in this product. I use the shade Medium, which is a perfect match for my skin tone. Let’s take a look at this product using its claims.

Hydrating:

First of all, this product is a part of the Moisture Surge line. I personally love the Moisture Surge moisturizer but I don’t think this CC cream should be under the same line. I wasn’t expecting to skip moisturizer altogether, but this CC cream isn’t any more hydrating the BB creams I’ve used. I’d say Skin79 Super Gold BB cream cream is actually more hydrating. This Clinique CC cream has a matte finish but it doesn’t emphasize dry patches like matte foundations tend to do.

Color Correcting:

The texture of this CC cream is quite thick, which reminds me of the first generation Asian BB creams. This texture is very similar to Skin79 BB creams but thankfully it doesn’t have that gray cast and there are multiple shades available for light to medium skin tone. This CC cream has a buildable medium coverage. It actually does a very good job of color correcting uneven skin tone, even better than some concealers! This is my favorite feature of this product. (Note: this CC cream may be too pink for those who have a warm undertone.)

Broad Spectrum SPF 30:

I love it when BB&CC creams/foundations contain sunscreen within the product. This is definitely a plus! Additionally, it does not give me a white cast in flash photography.

Anything Else:

I’ve read reviews saying that this product goes on nicely but then the coverage disappears after a couple of hours. For the oily T-zone, I find this CC cream to be more long-lasting when used with a primer. The coverage is pretty good for 5-6 hours if I use Benefit POREfessional or Avon Magix Face Perfector. I would not recommend using this CC cream as a primer because 1) it will not prolong the wear of your foundation and 2) the texture is already quite thick and it will not mix/layer well with a matte foundation. I don’t have much experience with CC creams, but I honestly feel like this product is nearly the same as a BB cream since it goes on quite opaque.

Lastly, I’ve listed my foundation/BB/CC cream shades on our About Us page. Hope you’ll find it helpful!

This product is available at: Sephora, Nordstrom, Clinique website
