Asian Skin Care Routine: Evening

This is part 2 of my skin care update. I will be talking about what products I use on a daily basis in the evenings.

From left to right:

1. MAKEUP REMOVER. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. (3.8 oz for $4.99) This makeup remover is only necessary when I’m using very smudgeproof eyeliner or mascara. Otherwise, using the cleansing oil is enough.

2. CLEANSING OIL. Eclos Cleansing Oil. (5 oz for $10.99) This cleansing oil is very gentle and it effectively removes all of my facial makeup. It does not contain mineral oil so it’s suitable for sensitive and acne-prone skin. It doesn’t have the most effective formula for removing eye makeup though.

3. GEL CLEANSER. Philosophy Purity Made Simple. (8 oz for $23) This is still my favorite cleanser but if I wear a full coverage foundation, it doesn’t take everything off. I either use this cleanser after the cleansing oil or use it with my Clarisonic Mia 2 (2-3 times/week).

4. TONER. Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion. (8 for $15) This is a good toner for acne-prone skin but I only use it over the summer because it can be a bit drying (it contains alcohol and sulfate). I will switch to a more gentle toner after I finish using this bottle.

5. ACNE TREATMENT. Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel. (1 oz for $25) This is a great spot treatment for whiteheads and mild acne. It’s clear so it doesn’t leave any residue on the skin.

6. FACIAL OIL/EYE TREATMENT. Pura D’or Argan Oil. (4 oz for $25.50) Argan oil is great because it serves so many purposes. Prior to using this oil everyday, my acne scars used to last for months. But after I added this into my evening skincare routine, hyperpigmentations are significantly lightened within 2 weeks. I also don’t get as many dry patches as before. For my face, I just dispense 2 pumps into my hand, rub my palms together, and pat it onto the skin. Additionally, I dispense a small pump into my hand and use my ring finger to apply the oil around my eyes as an eye treatment. There’s no need to buy expensive eye cream when you have argan oil!

7. MOISTURIZER. Vanicream Lite Lotion. (8 oz for $10) Last but not least, add a final layer of moisture by patting this light-weight lotion onto the skin.
