Now that Autumn has arrived and the summer of 2013 is gone, I would like to say thank you to those who participated in my Summer Desserts Link Party. It's always nice to exchange recipes and if you haven't looked at the party results, be sure to see if there are any yummy
desserts you'd like to try.
Summer for us here in Northern Nevada went by very quickly as we've been busy making many changes to the new house we purchased at the beginning of this year. We often take a break and head over to Lake Tahoe to the cabin to do chores there which really isn't much of a break from working, but it's always a beautiful place to be, so yesterday Hubs and I went over there for the day.
On the way over it was quite obvious that Autumn was on it's way. Rain came pouring down accompanied by gusty winds and the usually blue waters of the lake were a dull grey with some of the largest whitecaps we've ever seen before. As we left for home there was fresh fallen snow on top of Mt. Tallac, Heavenly Ski Resort and Mt. Rose. Hubs started getting very excited for his ski season to come, but unfortunately this was just a teaser for those who live for the snow because temperatures will be warming up a little in the next few weeks.
As for me, I'm really glad the weather is warming up because friends are coming to stay this weekend and we will be attending the 93rd Annual
Genoa Candy Dance Festival. This festival is full of arts and crafts and lots of great food and drink. What also makes it fun is the small, quaint town of Genoa, Nevada where it all takes place. The history behind the Candy Dance is great, little story and you can read it
here to find out why the Candy Dance was started so many years ago. Our family and friends started going to this festival several years ago and it’s definitely one that I would hate to miss. The first thing we do when we get there is to go to the pancake breakfast and that way we are all fed and are ready to hit the booths. It's always a great time... Can you tell I’m a little excited???
I do hope your summer was a pleasant one and that this Fall will be full of fun crafts, yummy holiday recipes and terrific times with family and friends!
