charley harper nurture baby quilt

I recently finished a baby quilt using the new Charley Harper Nurture line from Birch Fabrics. There are so many cute prints in this line that I couldn't narrow it down to a few so I used improv techniques to include almost all of them! I very lightly quilted it because well, I'm not sure if this sounds ridiculous or if some of you feel the same, but when I use novelty prints, I prefer the quilting lines to frame the "subjects" rather than quilting through them. However, it is much easier to do that when I'm free motion quilting or using curvy lines. With this quilt, I wanted to use straight lines so I just quilted the borders and then I added a few random lines of quilting (based on the needs of the batting) in the patchwork areas.
I wrote a tutorial for the quilt and you can find it on the Birch blog by clicking here. (Birch sent me the fabric but all opinions are my own.)
So, what about you? How do the actual fabrics figure into your quilting plan???
