Dinner’s On Us – A #ShareAMeal Random Act of Kindness

Commit a Random Act of Kindness by Sharing a Meal!

As we’re all planning and prepping for our holiday meals, it’s easy to forget that so many others in our world struggle to find their next meal. In fact…

“Right here in the United States, 1 out of every 5 children do not know where their next meal is coming from. That’s 16 million suffering from child hunger.”

It’s heartbreaking to think that this means that my kids are probably sitting next to more than one child in their own classrooms who are struggling with hunger. So I’m partnering with Unilever Project Sunlight to spread awareness and encourage YOU and your kids to “Share A Meal to Help Turn the Tables on Child Hunger in America.” Here’s one easy way to do it…

#ShareAMeal with This Dinner’s On Us Random Act of Kindness

One simple way to share a meal is through a simple “Dinner’s On Us!” random act of kindness. Get the kids involved in choosing a meal and shopping for the ingredients. We chose spaghetti since it didn’t have any perishable ingredients which meant that we could just leave it at a random door. Then you pack up your ingredients in a nice basket or bin. Print and attach one of our (FREE!) Dinner’s On Us labels. And drop it on the doorstep of any home in your neighborhood.

Since hunger has such a stigma in our culture, it’s hard to know of a particular family in need. You could try “investigating” by asking your pastor and church leader if they know of a family in need. Or choose a random house in a lower income area of your community.
