The holidays are a great time for a creative art project for kids. Use the holiday as an excuse to spend quality time creating art projects together! By taking time to create with your child you are engaging and connecting with them in a meaningful way. You are also helping build their self esteem and creative thinking. What I love about this holiday art project is the focus on the creation of the project, not the end result. Perhaps you will end up dancing and singing around the kitchen like we did! Here’s how you can do it with your kids…
Materials:
Step 2: Place the circle cut paper into the cookie tin. Add a few squirts of paint on top of the paper and the jingle bells. Replace lid.
Step 3: Shake it! We sang and danced as the jingle bells swirled around inside the tin. This was my children’s favorite part. Have fun with it but make sure the tin lid is on tight!
Step 5: Once the painted paper has completely dried, use a cookie cutter as a stencil to trace a holiday shape for a gift tag. Punch a hole, add ribbon and tie to a package.
Of course we had to sing a few rounds of jingle bells as we created our project. I love the surprise of how the painted paper will turn out.
Paint Tip: If your paint is thick, mix it with a bit of water. The bells jingle better and roll in the paint better with thinned paint.
Try different colors and add a dash of glitter to jazz up the gift tags!
Have your kids done an art project for Christmas yet? If so, tell us about it in the comments below!
