Lupita Nyong’o is the New Face of Lancôme!

I woke up this morning to the epic news that Lupita Nyong’o is the newest face of Lancôme beauty! You may ask yourself why is this news epic in 2014?…and that is just it! We are in the 2014 and Lancôme has never had a black woman as an ambassador of their cosmetics line!…sad, but true! I will however give credit where credit is due to Lancôme because of the fact that they chose Lupita with her flawless yet dark skin. It’s no secret that main stream media has their own standard of beauty that very few people measure up to, but what Lancôme did by choosing Lupita is put out a message that says beauty comes in all skin tones, sizes, shapes, and forms. It’s a message to the little girl that feels that she is not good enough because she doesn’t fit into what “society” defines as beautiful. It’s a message to the world at large, saying open your eyes because beauty is everywhere if you take the moment to appreciate it.

Congratulations Lupita, but a bigger congratulations to Lancôme for partnering with such a poised, educated, woman with the world at her fingertips. Like Lupita said, “hopefully it’s a symbiotic relationship” for years to come.
