DIY Sleeping Mask

Hey Guys! Hope you are all having a lovely week! Today we have a cute little DIY for you, a cozy sleeping mask.
I was inspired to make this by one of our very favourite blogs 'A Beautiful Mess', and I loved the idea so much that I thought i'd give it a go myself to share with you guys. This sleeping mask would make a great gift because you can so easily personalise it with colours and words of your choice and preference. Its dead simple too.
You will need: 2 cotton fabrics of your choosing, elastic, quilt batting (I didn't actually have any of this, so used felt instead. I think it worked just as well), paper, scissors, pen, pins, felt, sewing machine, needle and thread, fabric glue.
Step1. Start by drawing out your template (if you type 'sleeping mask pattern' into Google it'll give you some goodies). Cut out.
Step2. Place your 2 sheets of cotton fabric together, with the front sides facing each other. Place these on top of your quilt batting or felt. Pin together. Step3. Pin your template over the top of your material and cut out.
Step4. Measure the elastic around your head and cut to the correct size. Step5. Sandwich the elastic between the top 2 pieces of fabric. Pin the elastic so that each end sticks out from either side of the template by about an inch. Repin the top piece of material over the elastic so that it becomes sandwiched between your 2 fabrics.
Step6. Using a sewing machine, sew your eye mask together, leaving a 1cm seam allowance. Make sure you leave a gap (about an inch long). This is very important because it will allow you to flip the mask inside out so that everything ends up in the right place. Step7. By stuffing all the material through the gap, turn the mask the right side out. The elastic and the fabrics should all be on the outside. Step8. Using a needle and thread, close the gap. Now you could finish here, or you could add decoration! I chose to cut out the word 'snoozin' from felt, and used fabric glue to attach to the mask.

...and Voila!
Sweet dreams! Love Em xx
