obsession #11032013: the studded motorcycle boots

obsession name: Vince Camuto Windetta Studded Moto Booties, in Lead

purchased from: macys.com

why the obsession:

One of the smarter fashion shopping tips I try to adhere to regularly analyzing your closet and only making purchases for items I absolutely don’t have (along with budgeting and prioritizing, of course). Well, one item I didn’t have any of, was a pair of gray boots. I love the color gray – such a great neutral color for winter and can still transition great into spring. A few weeks ago, Macy’s was having a 30% sale on boots and I came across these gray beauties, Vince Camuto Windetta Studded Moto Booties in Lead. Vince Camuto (the designer) is an American footwear designer legend (see fashion history tidbit below) although his namesake footwear line was only launched in 2005. Every time I flip through issues of Instyle or Vogue, I always drool over the Vince Camuto shoe ads, and I always make a mental note to eventually purchase something from the collection. I finally decided it was time and I couldn’t be happier with my new pair of Vince Camuto moto booties.

When I first came across the Windetta Boots, I actually saw the Black/Gold version first, but I already have a pair of black/gold boots. The Windetta Boots are everything you can want in a pair of moto booties – it’s cool, it’s edgy, but not overdone. The gold or gunmetal hardware is perfectly placed, in my opinion, with the two studded rows over the back and the perfectly sized shoe buckle. The boot height is perfect for a short skirt with or without tights, or for tucking a pair of leather leggings. The leather is very soft, and the quality and design is absolutely excellent for the price point. The best part is that it is very, very comfortable and does not need to be broken in. Since I got mine at 30% off, I couldn’t be happier with my new pair of booties!

tidbit of fashion history:

Vince Camuto has been in the fashion industry since 1978 even though his namesake shoe collection was only launched in 2005. His resume includes co-founding Nine West and serving as its creative director before becoming CEO in 1993, before Nine West was sold to Jones Apparel Group in 1999. He is also behind four Dillard’s footwear brands, including Antonio Melani and Gianni Bini (I have obsessed over Gianni Bini shoes). Additionally, he partnered with Tory Burch to launch her footwear collection and collaborated with her to create the ever-popular Reva ballet flat. If that doesn’t speak to American footwear royalty, I don’t know what!
