Happy Tuesday beauties, we are talking drugstore foundations today, specifically Loreal's Visible lift Blur Foundation.

There was a time that I stayed away from drugstore foundations. One of the main reasons was I never knew you could return ones that didn't work out and being a woman of color it can be challenging to find the right shade without testing first. I still don't return things. I hate returning and usually If I guess my shade wrong I can always pick up another one and mix them, so I ventured back into the world of drugstore foundations and I have to admit a few brands are really ricking my world lately.
Unfortunately I have bad news for my darker skin ladies. Whomp whomp even though this line is available in twelve shades the darkest is Classic Tan. Depending on your undertone if you are in the lighter to mid caramel complexion area you may be able to get away with that one, it is the one I will be showing you. I was able to get away with it but even for me it was a smidge too light.

This is so annoyingly common with many brands and very disappointing because I loved this foundation.

The shade selection was the one negative about this foundation but there are many positives, so let's discuss. Although I always use a separate sunscreen this Opti-Blur foundation is Broad spectrum with spf 18. L'Oreal says this foundation is lightweight, will instantly erase the look of fine lines and is anti-aging. It's too soon to comment on the anti-aging claim but the other two delivered. This is a cream foundation that is in fact light and felt weightless on my skin. Instantly erase the look of fine lines, yup I would say it delivers on this claim as well. I haven't been sleeping well the past few weeks so I am carrying some extra eye baggage but overall I was pleased with the coverage and finish of this foundation. Application is a personal preference thing. Lately I have been using a round buffing brush or a flat top brush to apply cream foundations and occasionally my beauty blender. All those worked well with this foundation but honestly the best application came from just using my hands. I don't know if warming it up in my hands was the key or not but I found it applied excellent with just hands, you can lightly buff out after that if you need. I have combination oily skin so I did use a primer with this, the Skindinavia primer spray has been my go to. I got about 8 hours wear before a little shine started peaking through, which is good considering I didn't set my face with powder or a finishing spray.
Final thoughts: This is a drugstore winner!. I wish it was available in a range of darker shades but I do recommend it.
