KBShimmer Spring 2014 Glitter and Holo Collection Swatch and Review
press sample Spring is in full bloom in nail polish world! I couldn't be happier! I'll be showing you the first post for KBShimmer's Spring line which consists of 16 new shades. Here's the press release if you want to see them all in one place. I'm breaking up my posts into the glitters and holos (8 shades) and the creams (8 shades). Immediately following that I'll show you one of my favorite nail art designs in a long time done with the creams. All swatches done with KBShimmer Basic Training Base Coat and Clearly on Top Quick Dry Top Coat.
KBShimmer Belle Of The Mall- This coral toned pink polish is a fun color to brighten your day. This jelly like polish is loaded with holographic silver hexes in various sizes and is stunner in the sun. Best layered in three coats, or worn over a coordinating cream.
Can you believe this is only 2 coats? Excellent formula with no visible nail line after only 2 coats.
KBShimmer Daisy About You- A pale green creally, this spring polish features neon green hex glitters swimming among purple and lavender hexes and a scattering of lavender daisy glitters. Best in 3 Coats.
Normally, greens don't do it for me, but I do love milky shades so this base color works for me. I used 3 coats for opacity, great formula, no fishing for glitters needed. My only issue with this one is the cream base (as opposed to more jelly base) tends to cover up the glitters a bit.
KBShimmer Full Bloom Ahead- This white based polish is loaded with small, medium and large hex glitters in fuchsia, navy, teal, gold and orange; colors reminiscent of those floral tones that signal spring is near. Best in 3 Coats.
I have on 3 coats here, could have gotten away with two. Amazing formula and gorgeous mix of glitter. If you love the white/milky based glitters the way I do, this one is a must!
KBShimmer Laugh Myself Lily- A muted jade creally with holographic hexes in gold, pink, sliver, lavender and blue. Pink and light aqua dots complete this muted polish. To allow the glitters to shine this polish more sheer and is best layered in three coats.
This beauty is 2 coats of perfection. My absolute favorite from the collection. This is the one I decided to swatch last and I wore it for days, getting happy every time they caught my eye.
KBShimmer Make My Gray – A pale shade of gray sets off glitters in turquoise, gunmetal, pale aqua and coral. Wear alone in 3 coats, or layer this over a grey like My Life’s Porpoise for a unique spring manicure.
What an interesting combo of colors, love the milky gray base here. I only needed two coats of this, and watch out, it almost has too many glitters. Impossible I know, but sometimes the glitters came out in bunches and I had to spread them or remove extra glitters. Maybe I just need to shake up my bottle better before painting.
KBShimmer Prism Break- This linear holo top coat was designed to bring maximum rainbow bling, while still allowing the color below to shine. One light coat over any cream will turn your color into a holographic lover’s dream.
I layered One coat of Prism Break (and BTW isn't KBShimmer a master at naming polishes?) over 2 coats of My Life's Porpoise (review in next post!). Super great formula with a beautiful amount of holo. It's not the strongest one I've ever seen, but it's very noticeable. A refined and sophisticated holo top coat.
Prism Break seen here on accent nail over Sky Jinks (review in next post!). I shoot under daylight bulbs, but you can see the true linear better in real daylight. It's there, I promise.
KBShimmer Quick and Flirty- Every girl needs a good violet colored polish in their collection, and what better than one that comes with a rainbow! This linear holographic offers full coverage in 2 coats, add a third for a deep lilac color.
KBShimmer Rush Flower Traffic- A metallic glitter top coat with fuchsia, gold, green, sapphire, and aqua glitters in hex and dot glitters fill this polish. Ideal as 1 coat over our Chick Me Out or Honeydew List creams, this topper can be worn over so many colors!
I decided to layer this (one coat) over Quick and Flirty. Great formula no fishing for glitters necessary. This will look great over so many different shades!
