BlueBay Villas Doradas

My best friend and I had the most wonderful stay at BlueBay Villas Doradas in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. This will be my first adults-only all-inclusive resort! Yes, that means buffets, bars, restaurants and non-motorized activities are included in the price. I very happy to come back and say that the food was pretty good, especially on Saturday, when they served Dominican food, and the drinks were free-flowing! Not to mention, the property was truly a beautiful place. Plus, I always appreciate a place more when the staff are super friendly and gracious. I’m pretty happy that we picked this place as our home base for her birthday week relaxation and adventures.

THE BEACH

Meet Playa Dorada. We loved our quiet beach! Having a bar there also factored into our happiness, hehe. There are beds, chairs, and shade abound for our choosing — a major perk of staying at a beachfront hotel/resort. I do have to mention…. You will meet with a wave of vendors selling everything from handcrafted jewelry, massages, braids, tours and more. We loved interacting with them and they do not hassle incessantly. For us, it was all part of our Dominican experience!

THE ROOM

Not that we stayed in here for much of our stay…

But when we need to get some sleep or catch up on our work, our room was super cozy and well-lit. I loved it when we came back with a towel animal on our freshly made bed.

THE PROPERTY

Now feast your eyes on the rest of the resort. White billowing curtains, super lush landscapes and peace architecture — I couldn’t have asked for more in a getaway. It could have been better if there weren’t any pesky mosquitos! They got me pretty good, especially walking around at night. Speaking of nighttime, this ambiance becomes super romantic. Highlights include three pools, a swim-up bar and a great mix of nature with modern facilities. There were many times when we were picked up for our excursions that we were asked about our hotel. We were pretty happy that others loved where we stayed as well.

For most of our time, we ate at the buffet, but on our last night we dined at El Dorado (requires a reservation) which specialized in our favorite, grilled meats! There a whole calendar of activities available, and tennis courts!! We planned on playing, but that’s like saying you’ll go to the gym on vacation. Obviously, it never happened!

My only qualm about staying here? Paying for Wi-Fi. Maybe they discourage being connected so we could vacay unconnected?!

Anyways, thanks BlueBay Villas for a great stay!
