Painting furniture with KILZ HIDE-All

I have something I am pretty excited to share today with you.
Today I am sharing painting furniture with KILZ HIDE-ALL
KILZ® HIDE-ALL™ primer is a high hiding, fast drying, multi-surface latex primer sealer formulated to minimize problems caused by dark colors, minor surface marks, textures and porosity differences.
Ready to brush, roll or spray.
We have all heard of KILZ primer. Been around for years.
Basically KILZ is a wall primer to cover up existing paint, perhaps mostly darker color pigments on your walls.
I decided to take KILZ to a new level. I have never seen this done before and hoping it may be a new way for all you painting furniture lovers to try.
Did I mention how inexpensive a 2 Gallon tub was?
$25.99.
2 gallons is a whole lot of paint and can cover a ton of furniture projects.
So when the brain storm hit me, I ran out to Lowe’s home improvement.
Let me first say the fellow at the Paint counter was extremely helpful (chatty) and very knowledgable with mixing and tinting colors.
He said I was the first to ever ask for KILZ HIDE-ALL to be tinted with a swatch color.
I chose Pantone Universe Citrus.
My first swatch was in the red family. However, the paint expert at Lowe’s did sway me in another direction.
He was concerned with the pigment perhaps being too pinkish. I agreed and went on to another color choice.
The color I went with is cheery and bright and jumped off the swatch shelf at me.
I will say honestly, the color is NOT spot on. But I told the fellow upfront, I was not too concerned with it being exact.
He added the tint to the 2 gallon twice. I am almost wondering if a third time would have been spot on.
I do love the end result color and that is all that mattered to me.
You see that is a huge TUB of paint right there. I could probably paint 20 pieces of furniture or more.
You remember this shelf ladder I shared with you when we painted our kitchen recently?
Cheapo Walmart piece.
Which was perfect. I am all about budget decorating and trying to change things up without breaking the bank around here.
Totally modern, and NOT our style. But I knew early on this piece was getting a complete makeover.
In fact, I am pretty certain this piece is all particle board, not wood. Could be laminate. It was smooth and shiny. YUK!
This was the first coat of KILZ HIDE-All tinted hide-all I brushed on.
Was I nervous about this project?
No not at all, it’s only paint and worse case scenario, I would go over it with something else if this was a fail.
Fail it was NOT.
When my husband came home from work that evening, he walked in the kitchen and literally said
“WOW”
nuff said there.
I think it looks perfect in our Summer kitchen.
In fact, I believe the color I chose will go with all four seasons.
So in closing, my thoughts…with all the rage of expensive chalk paints, chalky paints, etc…I won’t mention any names because most of us know.
The KILZ HIDE-ALL did just the same end result imo. I have used the other paints many times so I can with all honesty make that claim.
