Of English villages and Seaside towns: Wray & Morecombe Bay

I'll admit that despite being over to England numerous times, my heart still delights in the quiet little villages, fields of green and the novelty of the ancient architecture. As we flew into Manchester, I was surprised at how part of my heart felt like it was coming home, which bodes very well for my move there next year. More on the move soon, but for now I wanted to share some pictures from the villages surrounding Lancaster, the city where my gran lives.

First up, the village Wray is a right out of Jane Austen's England with its Georgian cottages, meandering lanes and vibrant flowers. We drove out there for lunch above the river and to imagine ourselves as Emma Woodhouse playing matchmaker with the townspeople.
I always love to visit the English coastline when I'm over there because of the kitschy nature of the English coast line. Undoubtedly South Africa has the superior and far more beautiful beaches, but I love strolling along an English promenade with the smell of fish and chips in the air and the Victorian buildings of the shore in the distance. So kitsch but so English.
