What Happens in Vegas Melts In Vegas: I Survived the Desert Heat

I already know what you’re thinking, Ms. Shauntee must’ve forgotten about her blog. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Between, graduation, my birthday, a road trip, and life in general, I needed some time to adjust and get myself together. Every day,I had it in my head to write but honestly couldn’t find the strength to get it done. I spent the past few days in Las Vegas relaxing and celebrating my birthday, my sister’s birthday, and some of my friend’s birthday. There’s nothing like a few days of fun to get you back in the swing of things.

During my trip, I caught fire outside, lost one of my best friends, visited another friend, unwillingly learned a little bit about prostitution, got obsessed with a panda, and flew on something that gave me everything but Spirit. I know you’re probably thinking that this doesn’t sound like too much fun but let me explain.

The temperature in Las Vegas hit an all time high of 117 degrees on Saturday. It was 100 degrees when I got in on Wednesday and 110 on Thursday. Never in all the days of my life have I ever felt such extreme heat. I literally thought that I would turn into a big ass ball of fire at any moment.

I lost one of my best friends and unfortunately I can’t explain how. One minute we were together and next minute she was gone. My iPhone was my right hand, unfortunately someone took my beloved baby while I was in the casino obsessed with a Panda slot machine and not paying attention to my belongings. Lesson of the day, don’t ever let a chiming slot machine make you lose focus. I refused to let that spoil my good time!

I got on the elevator thinking about my cell phone when 3 women got on. At 110 degrees, I expected women to be scantily clad, but I didn’t expect them to actually be prostitutes. During my ride to the 22nd floor, I got a crash course on how to get paid up front from the men on the 18th floor before you do a lap dance or anything else. One woman who I would have to refer to as the leader was schooling the other women and me in the process. I guess I will put this under the things I would never do but nice to know file in my head.

One of the many things I love to do while traveling is shop. I got a chance to visit my good friend Kate Spade and always she never disappoints me. I had a good time shopping in there with my sister and the super friendly helpful staff. I snatched up quite a few goodies for less than $200.00.

I feel the need to write about my experience with Spirit Airlines, but I think they deserve a full blog write up about their lack luster service that gave me everything but spirit.

I had such a good time with my sister and friends that flew down to hang out with us. I was so happy to see people I hadn’t seen in a long time and even happier to walk around with a big ass margarita for 4 days.

I feel like I was on a season of Survivor: Extreme Heat Edition. I know quite a few people who would’ve had a hard time dealing with the heat. Despite me sweating in places I didn’t know you could sweat and a few bouts with extreme thirst; I survived.

Now I’m back! Rejuvenated, Refreshed, and Relaxed

I met a potential mate.
