Paging Doctor Heartbeat

Yes, it’s sweater season but what’s up with the electrocardiogram featured across the chest on Alexander Wang’s latest pieces? The sweater and tee appropriately named “Heartbeat” are bizarre. (in my fashionable opinion) As I continually say, designers try and push the envelope to see exactly what they can get away with. Recently, I featured Anya Hindmarch’s whimsical Tony the Tiger Tote...I assumed it would be sitting on the shelves getting stale. I admit it…I was wrong. The ludicrous looking over-the-top pricey bag was sold out! Same thing will probably happen with Alexander Wang’s Heartbeat sweater and tee which has my pulse racing.

Typically…love AW and have a ton of his sweaters that I’ve continually worn for the last few seasons. I don’t get why anyone would want to don a cardiogram-inspired sweater or short sleeve top. Funky new hospital attire for the staff would be the only thing I can think of. While I definitely appreciate funky, trendy, edgy and cool..these pieces do NOT fall in that category. The prices may have your heart in a flutter!
