What do you like most about your home?

Like most residents on Federal Hill who have one, we love our rooftop deck. We watched the Star Spangled Celebration fireworks from there and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The sunsets are breathtaking! It’s almost an embarrassment of riches, but we have two other decks that we frequently use. The one off the kitchen is a great spot for growing herbs and having quick meals. And the sunny, sheltered second floor deck off the guest room is great when the weather is cooler.

Why do you choose to live in Federal Hill?

We love to walk and it’s a lot more fun to walk with a destination. We walk to varied and wonderful restaurants, great parks, the library, art galleries, the Inner Harbor, the Meyerhoff, and Little Italy as well as many more mundane destinations such as the grocery store and the gym. John walks or bikes to his office on Charles Street. Federal Hill has a great neighborhood feel and we are happy to call it home. Expects give us a 97 on walkability but we think it is 100.

What do you like the most about your home?

Other than the person and cat who live here with me, I love the sunlight that pours in our gigantic windows everyday. The high ceilings are wonderful and I love the completely open floor plan- it makes it feel so big, sunny and cheery and it reminds me of the house I grew up in, also in Federal Hill. It is a very happy house!

Why do you choose to live in Federal Hill?

I grew up in Otterbein and Federal Hill and so coming back after college and living in a big row house with a bunch of friends a few blocks away from my parents only made sense. Since then I have moved a few blocks further south into a lovely loft with my boyfriend and we love being able to walk to so many places to eat, drink and shop. I go to the School of Social Work at University of Maryland Baltimore and so I get to walk to school which is awesome! Federal Hill has a great community feel. It is a small town in a biggish city!

What do you like the most about your home?

We love the view from our new fifth floor deck, which gives us a sweeping panorama of Baltimore, from the stadiums to Key Bridge. It was a spectacular place to watch the Blue Angels and fireworks. Ten years ago we extended the 3rd floor kitchen and added floor to ceiling windows. Now we feel that we live in a light filled tree house. With two wood burning stoves, the house is comfortable all winter long. Our fourth floor 19th century American walnut mantelpiece was once in DuPont Circle townhouse, when Teddy Roosevelt lived next door.

Why do you choose to live in Federal Hill?

Federal Hill is a wonderful place to live, for 20 something’s, mid-life professionals and retirees. Since there’s so much convenient shopping and restaurants, one hardly needs a car. Being very active members of the Federal Hill Neighborhood Association, Federal Hill Main Streets and the Federal Hill Gourmet Society, we’ve met a lot of wonderful people and built strong friendships.

What do you like the most about your home?

I love my house because it’s a perfect fit for us, it’s light and happy and it’s in Federal Hill.

Why do you choose to live in Federal Hill?

I love living here because it’s a real neighborhood with the friendliest, most interesting people anywhere. I walk, bike, take the Circulator and the Connector. The other day tourists on the Connector asked if I lived here, when I said yes, they said “Awesome!” Indeed!
