Mom: The Complete First Season now on DVD

My husband and I are big fans of comedy. Some of our favorite shows on television are comedies. One of our favorites is a new show that premiered last year called Mom. Mom stars Anna Faris and Emmy® winner Allison Janney . Mom is one of the shows from Chuck Lorre, the same man who has brought us Roseanne, Mike & Molly, Two and a Half Men and the Big Bang Theory.

Anna Faris plays Christy, a single mom whose newly found sobriety has given her the ability to see her life clearly… and she does not like the view. Now she must try to untangle years of reckless decisions in order to make a better life for her and her kids. But she discovers that just because you want to be a better person doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Everywhere she looks there are challenges: She is trying to stop drinking in wine country, have a healthy romance with her unavailable boss, raise her young son to be a good man despite his father’s influence, convince her troubled teenage daughter to make better choices than she did, and, perhaps the most difficult task – forgive her estranged mother, Bonnie, played by Allison Janney, for not giving her any of the tools she needed to handle life in the first place.

My husband and I made it a point not to miss any episodes, but sadly we did. That is why I am thrilled that the first season is now available on DVD. Now we are able to catch up on the episodes that we missed. All of the first season’s episodes appear on this DVD. There are 22 half hour episodes including the show’s pilot.

  • Pilot
  • A Pee Stick and an Asian Racoon
  • A Small Nervous Breakdown and a Misplaced Fork
  • Loathing and Tube Socks
  • Six Thousand Bootleg T-Shirts and a Prada Handbag
  • Abstinence and Pudding
  • Estrogen and a Hearty Breakfast
  • Big Sur and Strawberry Lube
  • Zombies and Cobb Salad
  • Belgian Waffles and Bathroom Privileges
  • Cotton Candy and Blended Fish
  • Corned Beef and Handcuffs
  • Hot Soup and Shingles
  • Leather Cribs and a Medieval Rack
  • Fireballs and Bullet Holes
  • Nietzsche and a Beer Run
  • Jail Jail and Japanese Porn
  • Sonograms and Tube Tops
  • Toilet Wine and the Earl of Sandwich
  • Clumsy Monkeys and a Tilted Uterus

I love the episode titles. They are so funny!

Check out some snippets from the shows many episodes here – Mom on the Warner Brothers YouTube.

I love Anna Faris. I think she’s hysterical but in this series I think Alison Janney’s character steals the show. Some of the lines that come out of her mouth are so funny!

I think the entire cast of characters really bring something special to the show. Even Christy’s teenage daughter and young son and ex-husband have had some pretty funny lines.

There are a few things I could have done without, like their friend having cancer (cancer is no laughing matter) but over all the series is wonderful and we are anxiously waiting for new episodes.

Oh! I almost forgot. Another great character is the Rudy played but 3rd Rock from the Sun alumni French Stewart. Oh my goodness! He is so funny too.

If you haven’t seen the series yet you are missing out on a rare gem. I know many people (friends, neighbors) who haven’t watch the series yet. I always encourage them to watch. Once you’ve watched an episode or two you’ll be hooked.

Look for Mom: The Complete First Season where ever DVDs are sold.

Have you seen the show yet? Do you have a favorite episode or character?
