Do you have a favorite salad dressing?
Mine is usually just Good Seasons Italian dressing which I've been making for years, but every once in awhile I make a homemade Thousand Island Dressing and it brings me back to my childhood when my mom used to make it for us and then it becomes my favorite for a few weeks too.
This is a really simple recipe and will liven up your everyday salads with a little flair.
Give this a try and let me know what you think. I love to try new dressings to change up the same old salad and you will too.
Here's what you need:
3/4 cup mayonnaise, I use only Best Foods or Hellman's
5 Tbs. ketchup
2-3 Tbs. sweet pickle relish with juice
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
pepper to taste
I love making dressing in mason jars because I can just add all the ingredients, put the lid on and shake, shake, shake until it's all incorporated.
If you don't have a mason jar, measure out the mayonnaise in a measuring cup and add the ketchup. Mix well.
Add the pickle relish, salt, pepper, and sugar and mix well. Taste to see if you might need a touch of sugar or more salt & pepper.
Place in a container with a tight lid and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving.
Serve with any salad and enjoy!
Serves - approximately 1-3/4 cups
Enjoy!
